Chukels is one of my alter egos (Br.Thomas is the other); Chukels uses magic and fun to illustrate bible stories and gospel truths to children of all ages, 3 to 93. I have performed in churches throughout the United States (notably Colorado, California, Michigan, and Iowa) and in Kurdistan (northern Iraq). (And of course, my home church, St. Andrew's Episcopal, Scottsbluff, NE.) I provide clean, wholesome entertainment, teach at Vacation Bible Schools, conduct Children's Chapel, and, increasingly, preach sermons in clown as the adults complain to their pastor that they don't get to hear Chukels' message.

In 1986, I joined the Fellowship of Christian Magicians: the Rocky Mountain Chapter, and used the "needle through balloon" illusion in a sermon the very next day. That illustration of salvation remains a favorite of mine to this day. The following year, I donned a clown costume to entertain children of a nearby parish, and the clown took over: Chuckles the Magician was born (and became Chukels after a invitation from missionaries in northern Iraq to cheer the Kurdish children there). The 49th International FCM convention will be held July 16 – 20, 2007, at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana.
