Born into an Anglican heritage and raised in the Methodist tradition, my home church is now St. Francis' Episcopal Church in Scottsblff, Nebraska.
I was baptized as an infant, and apparently accepted Jesus as my personal
saviour and Lord as a very young child, for I have known His presence and
my salvation for as long as I can remember.
I am a oblate at St. Gregory Abbey (OSB), located near Three Rivers, Michigan. There I am known as Brother Thomas, one of my alter egos (the other being Chukels the Magician). As an oblate, I do not reside at the monastery, but do, as best I can, follow the Rule of Benedict consisting of worship, work, study, and rest in balance; and I visit the abbey whenever possible, at least annually.
In 1993, I spent one month in Kurdistan (the no-fly zone of northern Iraq), visiting missionaries. That visit, though short, changed my perspective on my life and God's purpose for me.
